Update your Office365 multi-factor authentication phone number

If a user logging into Office 365 has received a new phone number and needs to update it in their Office365 security settings, the steps below will guide them on how to do this.

 Instructions

  1. Go to My Sign-Ins

  2. Enter your email address and select ‘Next’.

  3. Enter your password and select ‘Sign in’.

  4. If prompted for MFA, please validate your login.

  5. Click your Profile icon in the upper right corner.

  6. Select View account from the dropdown menu.

  7. Click UPDATE INFO on the Security info window.

  8. You will receive a verification code by the security method you set up on your first login. Enter the code into the verification window and click ‘Verify’

  9. You will see your old phone number listed with the option to change it. Select ‘Change’

  10. Update the phone number to your new one and follow the prompts. If you selected to ‘Receive a code’, you will get text message with a 6 digit code you will need to enter to validate the change to the new number. If you selected to ‘Call me’, you will receive a phone from Microsoft. Follow the prompts to authenticate the change.
