Where can I find my BitLocker recovery key?

BitLocker likely ensured that a recovery key was safely backed up prior to activating protection. There are several places that your recovery key may be, depending on the choice that was made when activating BitLocker:

Note: If the device was set up, or if BitLocker was turned on, by somebody else, the recovery key may be in that person’s Microsoft account.

 Instructions

  1. On another computer or a mobile device open your Internet browser and go to aka.ms/aadrecoverykey

  2. When prompted, enter in your email address, password and complete the MFA (multi-factor authentication) prompt.

  3. Once logged in, you should see a list of devices with your device name. Select the ‘Get BitLocker keys’ link for the device you need the recovery key for.

    1. If you do not see the ‘Get BitLocker key’s option, please reach out to the Helpdesk at helpdesk@epika.io for further assistance.

  4. In the pop-up window, select the ‘Show’ link.

  5. It will reveal the recovery key that you can enter on the PC asking for it.
